    Washing machine standpipe overflow
I just recently had my washing machine overflow from the standpipe. I have never had an issue with this until the other day. It overflows initially when the washing machine begins to drain. Once the intital draining slows down it does not overflow anymore. The standpipe is approx. 30" high and several inches abover the washing machine. I believe there may be a clog since the problem just started. Any help would be appreciated.

As you correctly guessed, there is a clog inside the pipe. First, I would make sure the P-trap is clean. If so, snaked it with 3/8" snake. Run the snake its full length.

Another way to snake the clog would be to locate the washer roof vent and snake from there, Put out enough snake to reach the base and 20 feet more. Good luck, Tom

Last week our washing machine drain overflowed. The plumber tried to snake it out, but the problem only became worse (i.e. no flow at all any more). He opened up the drywall and discovered a very corroded cast iron pipe going horizontally from the standpipe via a trap to a T at a vertical pipe...

Washing Machine Standpipe Height [ 1 Answers ]

I am installing a washing machine in the basement and the sewage drain pipe is at a height of 5 feet off the floor. From everything I have read, the standpipe should be above the height of the washer tub and it should be 2" in diameter. Could I install the washer without having a external pump...

Laundry standpipe drain overflow - washing machine washer [ 12 Answers ]

I have a Kenmore He3T washer that has worked fine for just over a year. It came with a new drain hose with a 'hard U' for hooking on the standpipe and has had no problems up to this point. For the first time, I accidentally used standard soap (non HE) for about a dozen loads. This is when the...

Leaky Washing Machine - probably clogged standpipe [ 3 Answers ]

We just moved and we brought or whirlpool washing machine with us. We never had any problems with leaking in the past, but now there is water all over the floor. I discovered that water is partially running out of the drain hose instead of draining down the standpipe. I'm not sure if anything...
