I have an older York heat pump unit. I just replaced the condenser fan motor. Hooked up new as old... two brown wires to new capacitor... old motor and unit has black/yellow power leads, new motor black/white. Of course I hooked up black/black & yellow/white.

However, I had to change direction leads on motor to clockwise to get the motor to run counter clockwise and exhaust air out the top of the unit.

Realize sounds strange but checked those details several times. Any thoughts/insights would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying you have a strange sound? Or is was strange to change the direction? Most new motors need changed inless it was the exact match replacement.

No there is not any audible noise.

Just that the two directional wires/terminals that come out of and go back into the motor are in the clockwise position [yellow-orange, orange-yellow vs. yellow-yellow; orange-orange] and yet the motor spins counter-clockwise.

One of the power leads goes to T1 [black from motor; black on unit]and the other [white on motor; yellow on unit] goes to what appears to be a relay with numerous terminals.

The motor spin direction is recognized looking from the wire end not the shaft end

Air needs to blow out the top, whichever direction that is.

Thought that might be the case but everything I looked at about electric motors said to determine form shaft end.

By the way stratmando - yes I know it has to and it does blow out the top.
