served a summons for another lawsuit from x husband! What to do?
Recently I went through a divorce where I was not capable of showing up to court in Tennessee (iam from florida) because of mental and physical illness. He won the case and had a lawyor to represent him. I could not afford a lawyor. A while back we purchased a hosue in Tennessee and he put the down payment as well as paid for all the furniture in the house. I paid him back as soon as a settlement I got from a car accident came in for 100,000. The court says he keeps the house, and the condo and that I owe him 35,000 more.

To my belief, his lawyor and him failed to tell the judge I paid him 100,000. I was served a summons at my door for another lawsuit here in west palm beach saying I need to pay him 35,000. I do not have any money left. I have 20 days to respond to the summons and have no idea how to do it. How to get a cheap lawyor to represent me. The summons says if I do not respond they can take all I own. Right now, the only things I have to my name is my suv and a small mobile home I purchased for myself with the little I had left of money. I just need some advice on what to do. I'm helpless.

There is no such thing as a cheap Lawyer - your mistake was allowing him to proceed without you appearing.

You might try to locate a Legal Aid Attorney. You may also have to represent yourself.

This does not appear to be a second lawsuit for $35,000 as it appears he already has a judgment against you for the $35,000. Are you sure this isn't simply an attempt to enforce the Judgment?
