Defrag runs/analyzes but gives error message/stops
    I have 3 HD's... C , D, & E.
Been working fine and defragging all for a couple years.

This week drive D defraggeg fine.

    Drive C gives error ////Temp/~DF38EB.tmp

    Drive E gives error E:/Recycle/De52.png

I have not installed anything new... I've searched for these files but cannot find them.

Any ideas on to look for would be appreciated.

Are you cleaning the system BEFORE defrag?
Running CCleaner will do this for you.
The same company also does a very good defrag program and best of all they are both FREEEEEEEEEEE.

Also you can run the checkdisk portion on the disks you have to see what comes up. If you have a broken link then it can show up like that.

    Thanks for the quick replys.
I was running the normal XP system cleanup before defrag.

I will look into the programs you mentioned.

Where would checkdisk be found on XP system ?

Right click on disk for properties. In the box that comes up there is a tab called tools. Its in the same place the defrag tool is.
