My husband's divorce orders state that his child support ends when his son turns 18, which will be in June of next month, he graduated school in January. He called the County Clerks office which was not much help-they said to look on the website. We couldn't find this related subject matter. His employer (small company) has never done this before so they do not know when to stop garnishing his wages. The week of his birthday? Week after? End of the month? Also, would my husband or the company he works for get into legal trouble if the courts do not "feel" it is time for his support to stop?
No one at the clerks office is helpful at all. Any advice?

Who issued the garnishment order? That's who you need to ask.

It is in the divorce decree and at the time of the divorce finalization he was given the choice of sending the check or having the state "clerk of the courts" handle it. He opted for the Clerks, which keep telling him to look for forms on the website. We both checked and find nothing relevance.

Florida. Should I take time off work and take the papers with me and get in line? Or is that a waste of time? And to think, we thought this might be easy... just stop paying at 18. Maybe we will be lucky? I have heard that the mothers get notices that the support will be stopping in the near future but first hand from my own situation, I didn't get anything from the courts. You should have contacted them a few months ago and then they should have sent the mother a form to verify that the child was turning 18 and expected to graduate high school.

At least here support is normally issued for the "month" payable at the first of the month for that month, And is payable for the entire month that they turn the age for it to stop.

But the court that issued the order will be the final word
