I have a Sony Trinitron Colour Tv Model no. KV-8AD11
Just recently I came home from vacation and my TV was not working but every other TV in the house was fine. I had a power outage when I was away. But when I went to put the television in other outlet it made a ringing noise and there was no red light indicating the televison was on. Nothing showed up on the screen. Please help :mad:

Sounds like the power supply for your TV got fried.

Too much of today's electronics are too complicated to fix. Most of the on/off switches really are not on/off switches but control a relay that does the switching. You could open it up. There is a heavy wire going to the tube. Stay away from it, people have gotten killed that way even with the power off. Reconnect the power cord, and turn it on. If the ringing or more of a buzz is coming from a little rectangular box near where the power cord goes in, the relay may be bad. It is a bit of a pain, but they can be replaced. Radio Shack may have something that will work. Otherwise, fixing it may be beyond reason. Several years ago, my VCR went dead. I checked and it was the power transformer, again something that could be replaced within reason. After a lot of checking, I found a place I could order a new one for $68 plus shipping. Right!

Hi,

I have three of those TVs. I have one that does not turn on and I'm trying to fix it. I substituted power supply boards with my good one. I compared components and found two bad capacitorsC612 and C613 and a shorted diode D607. I replaced them and it worked for a few minutes but C613 blew up again.

If you can just buy another replacement power supply board, it will probably fix it. Let me know if you find out where to purchase one cheap.
