    Sores, possible Disease?
I've been getting massive and frequent canker sores for 5 years and they're getting worse and worse. I haven't slept in 2 days because of the pain and I've tried EVERYTHING. I went to the doctors awhile ago they prescribed me valtrex, no help. I've tried some sort of prescription mouthwash numb, saltwater, hydrogen peroxide wash, ice. The sores are always on the one side of my tongue and I get about 5-6 big ones at a time. The pain is excruciating. I went to the doctors today they prescribed me Lidocaine telling me it'd work for at least an hour of pain relief. I put it on and was relieved, but it only lasted 5 minutes. I tried it twice in big applications. There seems to be NOTHING I can do to make the pain go away. Please help? And is this a possible disorder/disease as no one knows what to do! Im going to an ears and throat doctor for a biopsy next week but I need the pain to just go away enough for me to function and sleep.

    Thanks,
    Nick

You might want to look here and see if any of it can be applied to you for relief. With your doctors approval.

I have the steroid gel and Lidocaine (viscous) as of today. The lidocaine is absolutely useless, steroid gel I have to wait till I go to bed. The rest of it doesent apply, at the moment anyway, and I'm getting my biopsy next week. Im kindve worried because I think lidocaine is pretty strong stuff and it wearing off in 5m means something bad I'm guessing?

Does anyone know if it's a disorder or not? This is absolutely insane. From what I've researched lidocaine is pretty damn strong, it wearing off in 5m is probably a bad thing.

Lidocaine should last longer from my understanding of it. The only problem your really facing is that the tongue is a wet surface so it can't absorb at the same rate as when applied to the skin in topical fashion. If you can stand it you might try drying with gause first and try to slow down the secretions then apply. Not sure if that would help or not.
