    German Shepherd likes M&M's
I understand that we should never give a dog chocolate,

Am I endangering my German Shepherd's health by giving him
    2 or 3 peanut M&M's??

    He is three and 106lbs.
He will climb a ladder for M&M's...

I realize chocolate can be toxic to dogs. However, my dogs get diarrhea from chocolate so they don't get any under ANY circumstances.

(My dog would sell her mother down the river for a Jumbone.)

It really does go by the percentage of cocoa, and your dogs weight. How much is in 2-3 peanut m&m's, I have no idea.

Check out this web site, it may help you figure out how much is harmful.

My dogs get chocolate on rare occasions... usually chocolate biscuits when they steal them when I'm not looking!

If he hasn't had a bad reaction to them then it should be fine, just don't make it a regular habit, once or twice a month is OK.

Chocolate is always a scary one... some dogs are fine, for example, when I was young our Great Dane snuck into my bedrom on Easter morning and eat an entire 1kg easter egg! She had the runs but only slightly.
Whereas another Great Dane might only have a tiny piece and be in real trouble.

Lady ate a whole box of chocolate girl guide cookies right off my counter. She had the runs... big time. She also ate a jumbo white chocolate and almond with cranberry bar. Not impressed. She is still pooping the shiny paper it was wrapped in.

My dogs love chocolate! They'll stare at it the entire time you eat it. Many chocolate treats have disappeared from thin air over the years... and the dogs always have a big grin on their face... once, over christmas, my moms dog ate an entire 5lb bag of mini snickers. The only reason she got sick was because she ate the wrappers along with the snickers. But she allowed the chocolate to be digested before she started throwing up the wappers... my first dog ate 10 lbs of fresh fudge. Never once got sick... was bouncing off the walls, but never sick.

I believe that milk chocolate is OK in moderation. The chocolates used for baking are very deadly.

I doubt a tiney m & m will do anything to your dog. Especially when given every blue moon...
