What age are you? Why do your parents get to choose something as important as who you marry?

I believe that who you marry should be your own choice. But equally, you should be able to support yourself so that you are not depending on handouts from your parents or anyone else.

Being married is tough, no matter how great the other person is. Being married to the wrong person is hell. This is a decision you have to make for yourself, and you have to be absolutely sure about why you are making it.

I'm guessing you are in India and your parents will arrange your marriage?

How old is the boy you love? Do your parents have someone in mind for you already?

As an independent woman, naturally you will respect your parents, and give consideration to their wishes, but you are the one who will have to live in the marriage. You are not dependent on your parents financially.

However, it's important to try to look at this objectively. Sometimes opposition can push you into doing something you hadn't planned, just because so many people object. Family opposition and different castes can make life difficult. Is he worth it?

I'm curious. You say that he has his own business now. If he starts earning a lot of money from his business, then will your parents accept him?

On a more serious note, you can't expect your parents to ever like him. So I suggest that you accept their opinion and make up your own mind. You said that you're independent, so make your own decision.

Unfortunately, we can't always have our cake and eat it too. You just have to weigh the pros and cons on each side and make the best decision from there.
