I just had to squirt unky, too.

Alty, I wouldn't bet on that. Remember, I lived with nine cats for awhile. Six of them were under the age of three. I honed my squirt bottle skills on four kittens and their nearly-kitten parents. I can aim with a squirt bottle in each hand and STILL hit the cat I was aiming for. Can't say the same about throwing a ball, though.

As I was typing, unky decided to have another go at my cord. I squirted him, he hissed, then he went after the cord like IT got him wet, so I squirted him again. Then mop went after it and got squirted. They now blame each other for getting wet and are skirting around each other and fighting.

Zoe's smart, and wily. I squirted her and she looked around trying to figure out where it came form, then decided that it was a good idea to leave the cord alone and go play elsewhere.

Those poor little wet bedraggled kitties!!

Are they eating real food yet?

Do they have empty boxes and paper bags to play in?

Ahh, they're fine. Piled up on mommy now, eating. They're old enough, and it's warm enough, that a little water won't hurt them any. Hopefully, I'll be able to break them of cord chewing while they're still really young. Cats that chew cords end up in shelters or on the street. I want to train GOOD kitties that will never have to worry about losing their homes.

I wonder if squirting my kids when they're bad would work. ;)

I've seen zoe, mop, and aura eating solid food. Edith eats the wet food so fast, they never have a chance to try any. They seem OK with the dry food, though. I've seen all of them eating kitty litter. At least the litter hasn't been used, I guess.

I gave them the boxes from the fans I bought today. They aren't interested. Nowhere around here uses paper bags anymore.

I did get them one of those collapsible kitty cubes, though. They pretty much ignore it. I don't think they're figured out they can play IN things, yet. I think I'll get another kitty cube every couple weeks or so. Build an entire kitty cube catacomb ^_^

at this exact moment? Five of them are piled up on mommy. Spot is upside down on a folded up blanket on the other side of her.

usually? Under my loveseat. I think they like that edith doesn't fit under there. She walks around making pathetic noises and expecting me climb under after them.

I told my niece that and she told me to tell edith to lose some weight and go after them herself ^_^

Alty--I don't generally HAVE to discipline kids ;)

The first time that kids are at my house, I explain the rules to them--and the consequences for breaking those rules the first time. The first violation is usually that whatever they're doing stops, and they have to do a chore for me---dishes, washing the steps, cleaning the bathtub with a toothbrush, whatever. It's always age appropriate, and never TOO harsh. Second violation is a spanking--and they're told that that's what will happen at the time of the first violation. Third violation is that they have to sit in a corner for 5 minutes. BUT--the timer doesn't start until they stop crying and stop running off at the mouth. I had one kid in the corner for 2 hours once because he couldn't shut up for 5 freaking minutes.

I've never had to use punishments beyond that. Kids know the rules in my house, and they know they won't be invited back if they can't follow them.

Of course--it's a lot easier for me. I'm just the fun "aunt" who plays games and has lawn toys and lets them have as many fruit snacks as they want. I also don't hover like so many of the parents I see--the kids know where they can play, and I keep those areas free of anything I'd be sad to lose.

Sorry, I was all ready to post it last night and got distracted by something. Must've been shiny.

I'll upload it when I get home, later, then post the link here. If I forget, track me down and poke me until I remember.

That was mop. Zoe was sitting beside mommy and watching, before she decided to get mop's tail.
