They have a million other things to chew on. I don't even care if they chew on my furniture. I just can't have them chewing cords.

I like Grannick's Bitter Apple spray as chewing deterrent. It is one of several chewing deterrent products on the market made for cats and dogs.
Thanks, I'll look for that. Anything I can use in the mean time that might work? It doesn't matter if I have to apply it every day.

A cord is flexible and cool and feels good when you're teething. How about giving unky a cord (extension cord tied together in a figure-8, or part of one with ends duct taped?) of his own to chew on? If I remember correctly, this phase finally ended when teeth grew in. If he moves toward live cords, move him to his own.
Do you know if they range around all night, or do they sleep most of it? Our cats have adopted our sleep-wake habits.

I don't want him getting used to chewing on any cords. There's too much of a chance of him deciding other cords are OK, or that unplugged cords are OK.
I've known adult cats that would chew on cords. My computer cord is wrapped with tape in several places because of them. It wasn't because they were teething. It didn't even start until after they stopped teething. They just liked to chew cords.

Hey hheath, I used Lysol or Mr. clean. It has bitter ex in it, and one taste of that usually does the trick.
I just wipe down the cords with a paper towel that has the product on it. My cat and dogs learned quickly.

Thank you. That'll be easier for me to get quickly.

OK, as promised, it's baby picture time ^_^
babies are 5 weeks old today.

Aura

Mop

Unky

Alty-cat

Spot
unky isn't as chubby as that picture makes him look.
the picture of spot was just too funny not to use, even if it is a bit too dark and poorly focused.

AWWW Aura is so freaking cute!! They all are. I really wish I could have a cat. I think lady would eat it in a heart beat.
I love Calico cats, if I ever do get another cat, I want a main coon cat. Preferably in calico. Those Norwegian or Northern? (SP?) Forrest cats are really gorgeous.

I think spot has more than a little Maine coon in him. He's definitely going to be a longhair, and he has the little tufts of fur between his toes. Won't be able to tell for sure until he gets his adult growth and fur.
I CAN tell that he's going to be a big cat, though. He's already almost twice the weight of unky, aura, and alty-cat, and considerably taller than all his siblings.
Mop and zoe are going to be pretty good sized, stocky cats. They're already very 'solid.' they're going to have thick, rich, fur, too.
Alty-cat, unky, and aura are dainty. Tiny paws. Tiny faces. Skinny tails. Delicate, little, ears. They're going to be little cats with long legs.
I think unky is going to look just like his mommy when he grows up.

I'm glad I'm not losing my mind, or losing the ability to count to 6. ;)

according to what I've read, they should start getting their adult eye color at about 6-8 weeks. Until then, they're a bit near-sighted. I'm pretty sure they can't see my face when I'm standing, they rarely focus on my above about knee-level.
I got several more pieces of driftwood for them. The beach was COVERED. I don't think I've ever seen that much driftwood at once before. I had to limit it to pieces I could carry on my bike, though. There were a bunch of pieces I WANTED to grab, but I would've needed a car to carry them. There were several whole trees bleached white as bones and just lying on the sand.
I started the kittens on squirt-bottle aversion therapy, today. Every time I see someone chewing on a cord, they get blasted by the squirt bottle. So far, alty-cat's been the only target. I've had to squirt her a couple times. I even caught it on video the first time it happened ^_^
