Picnic table protection
Every year I have to paint the picnic table with a clear coat of protection, what is the best product to use? Is it normal to have to do this so often? I have sanded it down and it is ready to go.

Hi, handychic!
Is the picnic table made of treated lumber or not? Also, in what part of the world do you live, please?
Thanks!

An exterior grade polyurethane or spar varnish should do the trick.
I would contact your local park district and ask them what they coat their tables with, I'd be willing to bet it's spar varnish(as it is made for marine applications.)

I'm also wondering why it would need to be recoated every year? That shouldn't be necessary every year if some type of polyurethane or regular varnish is used, KBC.
