How can you retrieve disputed items left from moving out of home because of domest violen
I've recently been involved in a domestic violent situation with live in boyfriend. We have 2 children together and there has been a history of violence with him. Lately it has got to more violent and one day I decided to leave. We got into a scuffle and I defense I grabbed a knife for protection, and after placing the knife down he beat me even more. I tried leaving and he slammed my hand in the door. I called the police and I got arrested. The brother denied everything and of course I thought telling the truth would be the only case... well after being arrested. I returned with police escort to retrieve my things and my children. I still have more items to retrieve but he is claiming they are not mine. We recently had a restraining order hearing which was granted but those items are still in dispute and no one of course have receipts for them. This man is very petty and is not allowing me to retrieve my things out of spike for leaving him. Is there a way besides having to sue(costly) to retrieve my items from home that are clearly mine? I don't want anything else. What other steps should I be taking as far as making sure I do not go back to jail for being a victim and providing a safe place for me and my children?

Unless it is clothing that fits you or your children how is it clearly yours? Since your making a break you might consider cutting your losses and just move on because in playing this game your playing into his hands and he is still in control. Refuse to play and you win.
