Hi, All!

Okay, the title is basically my question.

To further it, I would like to ask if reading glasses are useful at all for someone who wears contacts when they use the reading glasses while wearing the contact lenses?

Sure, why not. It would then just require less energy to focus at a close distance reducing eyestrain.

I have a pair of glasses where the focal length is about 12". About the distance of a computer monitor.

I've tried some reading glasses while wearing my contact lenses.

Doesn't seem to work out so well, though...

If you want them, you might see what an optician can do for you. They could create a prescription with their (make your own glasses) gizmo. Bring a book with you.

Although I think you said you use bifocals. I don't think you can get bi-focal contacts.

One lense if for near and the other one is for far. That takes care of the bifocal situation.

And that's probably the reason why reading glasses won't work with your contacts.

You are already corrected for near and far. If you feel the desire to use reading glasses you might want to check with your doc to see if the prescription needs updated.

I did find a pair of inexpensive reading glasses that are working great when I have my contact lenses in!

I took a lot of time in picking them out - looked at the small print on labels of other products in the store. They have a little larger lenses than the others that I found. I firgured that I would have better, over-all vision if I got the ones with larger lense frames.

The power on them is +1.75.

Your reading power will appear on your prescription as "add power". You should check your prescription to see how close your research got you.

Am still using the soft lenses that were given to me by my optometrist. So, there's no real prescription there.

I will check on the "add power" thing, once I'm able to get my real prescription.
