Emop... try not to smoke... its not good... and I understand you feel lost and have no choice when things are not going your way, but there will always be ups and downs in life... and if you fight through the downs, the ups will be much higher, since you know you worked for it... you can get through this...

Its good you are going to get help... but in the mean time, try to keep it together and lean on those who care about you for support...

Next time tell your doc that he doesn't have to prove anything to your mum, its not your mums body he's medicating, its all about you and making you feel better, normally I wouldn't suggest meds, but the ones I'm on have kind of done good by me so far :)

As for the smoking who are you kidding, there's a lot better tasting ways to feel good about yourself. (yeah tried smoking for the first recently, not for me, was quite vile :( )
