    Pork Meat
Want to ask what you all think about pork. Pork has gone through the trenches as a food. Some cultures forbid the eating of it. Others always think that pork meat is way too fattening.

Personally and as being a meat cutter in the past. I have learned that pork meat depending on the cut is leaner then a lot of other meats. Had discussions with others that thought it was just all fat and not good for you.

I differ in that opinion. I think Pork is leaner then beef, and chicken for that matter.

What do you guys think? If you eat pork or not? And what ways do you cook it?

Share all your thoughts here... Thanks.

Good question, little nephew Joe (making me hungry)!

Pork has gotten leaner and meaner during my lifetime. Years ago, my two German grandmothers excelled at roasting juicy, greasy pork roasts for Sunday dinner. Times have changed; pork isn't nearly as juicy and greasy any longer.

I've always loved pork -- pork roast, pork chops, pork tenderloin. My two favorite pork recipes in the whole world are pork chops (bone in) baked (covered) in Campbell's Golden Mushroom Soup until tender and pork tenderloin patties baked (uncovered) with sliced tomatoes and half strips of bacon on top.

While I would recommend a non beef or port diet, If I was going to cheat, it is a good port BBQ

I like pork. When I was little my mom would bake it with almost nothing on it until it was dried out. So for years I hated it (sort of like I though I hated vegetables too, I still can't eat canned green beans without cringing though).

My favorite is chile verde. Although I've never been able to make it as well as they do in restaurants.

I found another really yummy recipe recently. Its easy too. You brown the pork chops a little with salt, pepper, and olive oil. Then, you pour a mixture of honey, dijon mustard, and white wine over it and you cook that down until it thickens up.

Sounds good everyone, I am starting to get really hungry now.

Justcurious, you know what my mom did the same thing. It was always dry and yucky and hated the taste of it.

All grown up and cooking on my own I actually know how to cook things to make them nice and tasty and tender.

    That sounds really good.

There was another recipe that my aunt and me made in the crock pot with dr pepper that I just thought about. It came out nice and tender too. I don't remember what else was in it. I'll have to look for it. It was good

Actually both JD. Since I have been on this present diabetic shot the side affects are bad and I am always fighting a low grade nausea that spikes easily almost daily. And things that I liked like fish, eggs, sausage... well even the thought of those now spikes it... not a good thing... but that's just me...

I live with it Joe, thanks though. One side benefit (as I have mentioned before) is that it certainly curbs your appetite not only with the nausea but I am just not hungry and almost have to force myself to eat. And as such I have lost over 40 pounds over the last 8 months or so... 238 to 195 lbs now. But no energy at all Marta made a doctor's appointment to run tests... again.

I'll be fine though... tooooo ornery...
