If You Cover Food Items in the Microwave Oven, Does It Take Longer to "Nuke" Them?
    Hi, All!

The title is basically my question plus does it take longer than if they were uncovered? And, I'm meaning if you cover them with something hard like glass or plastic and not something soft like a paper towel.

    Thanks!

It really depends on what you are "cooking" and for how long.
Many items benefit from being covered as the steam also assisting on the warming process.

I agree! Depends on what's being cooked; for how long and I had forgotten about the steam thing!

    Thanks!

It doesn't matter if it's glass or a papertowel. The covering of the food keeps the food from drying out and cooks faster. I had a microwave since 1974 (Amana) when they where a "fad" and threw my last one away 3 years ago when I discovered the real health problems a microwave oven can produce in a human body and how they were affecting me. Now I won't eat anything cooked in a microwave - even a cup of water!! I use a stove instead.
