Cantilever vertical steel mast design formulas
A steel pole with top end smaller than bottom end is required to withstand a given wind speed acting as a pure cantilever. It would be assumed that the wind load would vary with the diameter of the pole. What are the formulas to and coefficients in SI units for the relationships between pole length, top and bottom diameters and wind-speed. Also give the end moment? These equations should be clear enough to be entered directly into a spreadsheet. A starter example would be a pole 60 ft. high, 10 in. at top and 24 in. at bottom in a 200 mph wind.
