    Can a state attach social security benefit payments
    Can the state of Maryland attach my social security benefits check or my veterans disability check for delinquent back taxes

    Not if the SS check and the VA benefits check are your only source of income and that income is required to maintain your standard of living above a set level.

    However, if these payments represent only a portion of your income stream, and Maryland can prove that fact to either the VA or the SSA, then the checks are fair game.
