I'm a mac user, so I try to keep informed of new releases from apple, even if I know I'll never be able to afford them.

I REALLY want the new macbook pro. It has a solid aluminum uni-body casing, which means they laser cut a body out of a solid piece of aluminum so it doesn't have any seems. It's motion sensitive, and there are games for it that require you to tip and turn the computer to play them. The keyboard and sleep light are light sensitive and light up to just the right level for the room it's in, which means you can type in the dark and the keys won't be glaringly bright.

My next computer will be a Mac. I'm not very computer savvy but they're much better then IBM in my opinion.

Very user friendly, and a LOT easier to maintain. In three years, I have never ONCE had to worry about viruses or spyware.

That's what I hear. My computer has daily viruses, daily issues. It's maddening.

Yes, the Mac is more expensive but I think it's worth it. Maybe next year we'll upgrade. :)

Daily?? Do you have software protection ? If so which one? You shouldn't be having any problems.

I agree with calif , if you have adequate antivirus software you should very rarely have any problems.

We do have software protection. Which one? Um, I don't know. Don't laugh! :o

There are always glitches. Some days are better then others, most days it's easily fixed, but there are days when everything just falls apart.

Sad thing is, I'm usually the one that fixes it. That's like a cook doing open heart surgery because the doctor couldn't figure it out. :D

Well I never said it was adequate, I just said we have it. ;)

I'll have to ask hubby what we're using.

It's usually his fault we have problems, he downloads crap all the time, and voilą, new virus. :(

Free. That much I know. :)

I think it starts with an "A", does that narrow it down?

I'll know it when I hear it, or read it in this case. ;)

Avast ? If so get Avast Pro and you won't have any more worries. It will even prevent anything he downloads from infecting your system.

    Is the pro version free?

I'll look into it. Money is a bit tight right now so can't really be spending it to protect the computer.

Thanks boys. I hope you don't think I'm too computer stupid. ;)

I just have a regular macbook. It cost me $1200 when I got it. The iMac (the apple desktop) is even cheaper. They still run several hundred more than the average PC, though.
