A good site to check coin values is numismedia.com.
Almost all half dollars from 1964 and before are worth at least ten times to 12 times face value.
The same goes for dimes and quarters from 1964 and earlier..
Silver certificates are very common and worth only a couple of dollars on Ebay.
Also a site to check is coinflation.com.
It gives the current silver value of common silver coins.
