    The advice found here works!
Had a clogged bathroom sink drain last night. Enough hair, soap, and whatever else to ruin your day. A half gallon or so of hot (near boiling) water later, and the sink was going wide open. Wife is now much happier, and that's what it's all about!

Thanks for whoever it was (speedball?) who posted that.

That was likely Tom, Speedball1, good man. Another thing to try if this happens again is 1/2 cup of table salt mixed with 1/2 cup baking soda. Mix and dump into the drain followed by a cup of vinegar. Allow to bubble and soak over night and then that gallon of nearly boiling water.

You're welcome .But I'm just one expert among the many that we have on this page. All good plumbers and some I consider to be much sharper then me. I just happened to be around longer then most. Glad you got all fixed up and if we can ever be of help in the future just ask. Cheers, Tom

I'll try that one BG. Wonder what the purpose of the salt is? At any rate, I'm going to start doing these things periodically as a preventative measure.

I agree 100%! If you take a look at my posts over the last few days you will see the resolution to my annoying plumbing problem. Not only did I learn a lot, but I was able to avoid what would easily have been a $200 Roto Rooter bill!

Vinegar and salt is a very weak acid. It will clean copper pans nicely.

Vinegar + Baking soda reacts violently harmlessly and creates Carbon Dioxide gas.
