Are bulbs burning out often a sign of an electrical fire risk
I purchased a new home six months ago. We have had bulbs burn out in four different locations (four different fixtures, all different types of bulbs). It has happened more than once on the outside fixture. We have not been impressed with the workmanship on the house since we moved in, particularly the electrical and plumbing. I am concerned about the risk of a fire due to the electrical work in the house. Should I be concerned?

It's hard to see how your bulbs burning out would be indicative of poor workmanship. You say you've had 4 burn out in 4 months, all different fixtures - that doesn't sound unusual at all.

Fixtures burning out bulbs [ 2 Answers ]

Not sure if this is a fixture problem, or some other. It seems that I go through lightbulbs rather quickly in two different fixtures in my house. I've even tried those long life, power-saver bulbs, to no avail. Both fixtures are cheap. One is a basic lightbulb fixture that you plug into a...
