Help with no spark 1994 vetch del sol b18
Ok my son did a engine swap on his 1992 honda civic. He put a1994-95 b18 vetech del -sol in it. It ran for 1 week, stopped at the store it died and hasn't started scense. We changed the distributor ( rebuilt autozone) we changed the main relay. Had a mobil diognostics test. The guy said the injectors are not getting a signal to fire the distrbutor and there not working. He thinks it's in the wiring. No spark but we can here the fuel pump working. He won't work on it anymore. Any ideas?

If the CEL comes on and goes off after two seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II), then the problem is distributor-related. Over 50% of new aftermarket distributors for Hondas don't work out of the box. For some reason, the aftermarket manufacturers cannot get the internal sensors right. Many of the others die prematurely. I would install a genuine Honda distributor housing, where it's fine to install an aftermarket Ignition Control Module and coil.

Thank you we will try that. We do not have a check engine light, it has never worked. Also when it was running it had a problem with idle serge. I checked the map sesor wire as you indicated on one of your test and if I did it right I didn't have any volts to my multimeter. I stuck the hot probe in the right connection of the wire on the maps wiring harness and stuck the black probe in the themostat ground and no volts showed at all the ignition was in the on position.

Since it totally failed the K-Test, the ECM is bad. Here's how to replace it:

If necessary, replace the CEL bulb. Replace the ECM and you may find out the distributor is fine. It's common on these older Hondas for the ECMs to fail.

Update- The no start problem has been solved almost. We unscewed the computer and laid it on the floor to check the wires. I changed the maps sensor when we turned the car on it started. But it wasn't the maps sensor. A loose wire in the computer we guess. Don't know what one yet. Thanks for the help

My mileage is 90,000. My muffler is loud and the dealer suggested to have it replaced for $200. My maintenance on this car has been real minimal - what can I expect the lifespan of this car to be? I'm trying to see if it is worth it for the muffler. Thanks Theresa
