What is the federal bonding program
Im not sure what the fed bonding program is. Some have told me that it means that a company gets a tax break for hiring felons, some have told me that it is a law that felons can't be hired into certain positions. Any one know?

Hello again, scouters:
1) Federal bonding program?? I've never heard of it. Sounds like more jail talk. These days, the federal government isn't too fond of felons, so I seriously doubt that there a federal program designed to HELP felons get work. Bush is not your friend.
2) You ask whether there's a law that forbids felons from being hired for certain positions. The answer is, NO. There are, as the Padre told you, certain positions that require licenses that MAY not be given to felons, but that's not the same thing.

PS> Ok, you can't be president if you're a felon. That's the only law I know of.

Thanks again, excon. Agree with you on the bush comment. It seems self defeating of the govt to want felons to be good boys and girls while instituting what I have coined a system of "perpetual punishment" in this country. As for the 2nd part, I think there is a law in place that states that all felons cannot hold jobs that entail working with children under the age of 18. That's a tough one to argue with.

Hello again, scouters:
1) Dude, I can argue with anyone and I do too, even when I'm wrong, and I'm wrong a lot. However, if there is a law like you speak of, it would be a state law, and there would have to be 50 of 'em. I doubt whether they'd all be the same.
2) IF there is such a state law, I doubt it say's ALL felons.
But, all this is speculation. If there's such a law, I'll bet you can find it by googling around. I'll be happy to find out I'm wrong. Yes, I'm sure there are state laws that prevent child molesters from being around children. But, I'll bet you that a convicted pot smoker (felon) can not only get a job as a child care worker, but that they could get a license to own a child care facility.
Or, I could be full of it.

It could be the SBA's bonding program whereby a contractor that is either a minority contractor or a contractor that does not the financial assets, income can be bonded for construction performance / bid bonds ? Sorry but I am not familiar with any sort of federal "fidelity" type bond program, might be one that somehow guarantees dishonest acts are covered by some sort of Federal progran, but I am just not aware of such a program. I can imagine the Govt might want to help guarantee that people can find work and such a bond would aid in an employer in hiring someone with a "checkered" past history. Try Googling it, like "dept of labor" federal bond.

Federal Bonding Program
1. What is a Fidelity Bond
It is a business insurance policy that protects the employer in case of any loss of money
Or property due to employee dishonesty. It a guarantee to the employer that the person
Hired will be an honest employee
2. How does the Bond Help someone Get A Job
The bond is given to the employer free-of-charge and service as an incentive to the
Company to hire a job applicant who is a ex-offender.
Call 1-800-233-2258 or go to Federal Bonding Program Home
I have not tried to get bonded when looking for work I just heard about it month ago. I am a felon-larceny. I believe a lot of employer do not know about this program and I would look into it.

Felons can receive bonding in the first few months of their release, to protect employers against theft or other mis conduct. Felons cannot get security clearances with governments, and they would find it hard to gain employment where drugs, money or personal information is available. This comes from my personal experience upon release from Federal Prison Camp, '2004

I am a convicted felon and there is a fedaral bonding program for specific non violent crimes that lasts for 6 months, a felon can be bonded for 5,000 to off set any loss an employer may face. There is also a tax break the IRS gives for hiring convicted felons. Before you state an opinion get the facts.

Hello f:
I stated above, that I'm often times wrong, and I'd be happy to be so in this instance...
However, if what you say IS fact, then certainly you'll be able to link me to a site that confirms it. If not, then I'll consider that too.

I live in Florida and am on unemployment. I have been going through the Work Force program. My worker told me that the federal govt. will bond a felon for 6 months. I would suggest that people with this problem check with your local unemployment office or whatever it is called.

All I asked was a simple question! Do companies in the state of Florida, get tax breaks for hiring convicted felons?
But to answer your question, no you can not get bonded and be a felon simply all bonded is, Is insurance on a person, If your are a felon you are a high risk If you don't believe me call around to like well like insurance agencies and tell them you are inquiring about a career opportunity then ask them if you have to be bonded? Then ask then what if you're a convicted felon see how quick they'll never call you back?
