    Am I wrong?
I'm in a little situation at the moment. I was given a car from my parents (was there old one) because they had just purchased a new one I have given a choice to either keep it or sell it they AND QUOTE said I can do whatever I want with it. I've had it for a few weeks and its fine I've been driving it when I want and this week my partners car has been making a "not-normal noise" which means he has to take it to the mechanic so I offered him to borrow it of me for the reast of the week because I'm not working. He borowed it for one day and at the end of the day my mum confrunted me about it and said she doesn't want him using it because he for one isn't on the insurance?? And because it's a v6 engine and she thinks that he's going to thrash it and damage it somehow. So the next day he borowed it again and she blew up and said that she wants the keys back and the car is no longer mine? Any advice would be appreciated because I'm so angry at her I feel like she shouldn't have a problem he's family and when she needed help (money wise) he helped her out.

If the car is still on your parent's policy, then regardless of who is driving the car if there is an accident your parents insurance would be on the hook, which means they'd be out of the deductible and their rates would go up. They could also be dragged into a lawsuit if (God forbid) he were to injure or kill someone while driving their car. I can tell you that when my parents "gave" me a car and it was still covered on their policy I was under strict orders to never let any of my friends drive it, and I had the same rule for my own daughter when she took one of our cars to college. If you want to be allowed to loan the car to your friend, then you should be paying the insurance.

It also sounds like your parents for whatever reason don't particularly trust your friend to treat their car with kid gloves.

ebaines is right. Obviously, your partner is not covered on their insurance policy and they would end up in BIG trouble if he/she caused an accident.

Your parents were generous enough to give you the car, so be appreciative enough to abide by their rules or simply go out buy your own car and pay for your own insurance.
