    Ceiling fan installation troubleshooting
Hello! I live in an older house and recently when screwing in a light bulb to my old ceiling fan, there was a huge blowout that shattered the glass, and from then on the fan nor lights would work, so I got a new ceiling fan. Upon removing the old one, found two bare copper wires. One of which had the blue, black, and white wires all twisted around it. The other had nothing attached to it. The ceiling fan had a green wire attached to it, but it was not attached to either wire coming from the source. Upon installing the new fan, I attached the new wires similarly. Still nothing works. The fuse is good and I can't figure out what is wrong with the wiring. Could it possibly be the source wiring itself is shot? Grrr... this is so frustrating. I've hooked up quite a few ceiling fans in different homes, and never have come across this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
