You can go to the doctor and see if there's an underlying reason why you can't loose weight. Thyroid problems can cause weight gain and make it nearly impossible to loose weight. Make sure there's not a medical reason why you can't loose the weight, and go from there. Your doctor may even be able to suggest a nutritionist or specialist in your area.

I agree with Heath and just want to add that it's always a good idea to see your doctor when you want to lose weight just to make sure that you follow an exercise plan your body can handle and a diet plan that is healthy.

Have you ever bought an exercise video? If so, you've seen or heard the wonderful "Consult a physician before beginning any exercise program" part of the video. It's there for a reason. :)

Good luck on your weight loss journey.

If he can't, then he may be able to recommend someone who can. At the very least, he'll be able to tell you what you can and cannot do, in order to remain healthy.

Absolutely! The doc will first take blood to help determine why you are gaining weight and cannot lose it. Thyroid is usually the first thought, diabetes is another. Then the doc will put you on medication if you need it and help organize a diet and exercise plan.

Just tell him that you've been wanting to lose weight and want to make sure you do so safely and healthily. Tell him that any recommendations he could make would be appreciated.
