    Determining my residency status
I'm a bit confused as to my status this year - I'm from Canada. Here are the basics:

    June 30, 1999 - August 11, 2008 - F-1 status (I understand that after 5 years, I am a resident alien for tax purposes).

    August 28 - December 27, 2008 - TN visa

December 28, 2008 until now (and probably another year) - J-1 visa.

Please can you help me figure out whether I was a resident or non-resident alien for tax purposes for 2008 and 2009?

    Thank you so much!

If you are in U.S. since 1999, file resident tax return.
