I notice that you haven't mentioned using condoms. They can help reduce the sensations and some of them have numbing agents that might help, too.

Its not uncommon for wellbutrin to be used alongside another antidepressants (which are usually aimed at serotonin)... that wellbutrin, acting as a modifier of dopamine reuptake, can affect drive and libido, as low dopamine has been cited as one of many issues tied to libido... but that whole line of thinking (prozac to diminish sensitivity for PE) just isnt going to be thrown out to any and all for the stated reasons...

The role of depression and anxiety are well known to interfere with the bedroom... studies show that men capable of erections, but having problems with performance or drive, statistically can benefit sexually from treatment on the mental side... that said... its dangerous to simply state this med is good for that condition, especially where antidepressants are concerned. They can do a lot of good but they also introduce a whole slew of possible (and sometimes dangerous) side effects that warrant caution and restraint...

It's a logic game... similarly, depression can lead to isolation and an inactive lifestyle... inactive lifestyles can lead to obesity... therefore should antidepressants be used to treat obesity? no. the meds that treat the depression might be able to help with other areas of health, but its not a catch-all to prescribe the med... obesity should be addressed directly. I know... it seems like a convoluted path... larken, your doctor likely said something that wasn't exactly true when talking to you by simplifying the situation (wellbutrin would "counteract" prozac... it isn't an antagonist to prozac)...

Toxicc... thanks for answering my questions.

I can't tell you what's right for you, and you are clearly upset because you've had better experiences sexually and you know that you can get there with the "right" stimulation... I got from your post that you are able to have an orgasm during intercourse with self stimulation, but you are frustrated at having to do this, and that perhaps the rush to get to orgasm is a mental distraction that isn't letting you be in the moment?

I get what you are saying... and you clearly do have some big mental blocks in place now... but I'm mixed about your situation. Personally, I think a woman that is willing to self stimulate during sex is dealing with a common reality... that direct clitoral stim is often needed to reach orgasm and the needed stimulation through intercourse is often not there...

Not saying that you should "settle" for anything... it is your body and your mind... but I think its dangerous sometimes to rate your satisfaction in the bedroom based on past lovers... every one of my big loves had unique likes, dislikes, and different patterns of performance and finding satisfaction in what I had sometimes meant not thinking "well the previous lover kissed better"... etc.

Again... completely not saying you are "wrong"... you're clearly in an unhealthy place sexually, you're unsatisfied and frustrated, and it sounds like maybe you are just done and need to explore whether you can have a different sexual experience again.

Somehow I didn't mention in that rant... short-acting serotonin reuptake antidepressants are being actively investigated in drug treatment for PE, but he'll need to talk to a medical provider to find out what treatments, if any, are available to him.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dapoxetine
Yes, its wikipedia, but primary research on dapoxetine has been in the lancet and other primary medical peer reviewed journals... its been kicking around for three or four years through fda approval from what I've seen... I foresee a whole new slew of J&J TV ads and a stock bump in the future...
