I agree with the above post, except that there are programs out there you can get which recover lost data. However, there is a good chance that the data has already been overwritten a few times since history is something that can often times be stored in an area of the hard drive that is accessed frequently.
You definitely need to talk to your husband if you don't trust him. There are plenty of reasons to be clearing the history on exit. I do this just because in my web browser (Google Chrome), I like to only see my bookmarks and Google searches when I begin typing something into the address bar.
