Don't know what to think here...
I've noticed since day one that she "shakes", like she is shivering, but I just figured at first it was nerves being with new people, new place, etc. It's been almost a week and she is still doing it.

Today, I was cooking dinner, and had just put down a bowl of water for her. It was full, and she drank almost the whole bowl to herself. I kept watching her thinking she couldn't possibly keep drinking. Then she looked like she was going to be sick, and I figured she would have to really pee now, so I had my son take her outside. He wasn't outside a minute and he started yelling at me to come out. He said she looked like she was going to throw up. When I looked. She was sitting, but her back was hunched looking. She still had that look like she could be sick. He said she was shaking, so I picked her up and brought her inside. I held her for about 5 minutes (so it seemed) before she finally stopped shaking. She wasn't crying or whining or making any noise.

She drinks a lot, but doesn't eat much. I have even tried to hand feed her just to get her to eat more. She is skinny. When I picked her up, the breeder even said she was small and could use to gain a few pounds. I weighed her and she was only 12lbs! 9 week old Berner! I weighed her a couple days later and she was up to 15lbs.

Two things come to mind here:

    1. epilepsy/parkinson's - shakes, leaning toward Parkinsons
    2. diabetes - excessive drinking

Seeing a vet is in order.

She needs to be at the vet as soon as you can get her there.

It could be nerves or it could Distemper (or other disease). Only a vet can tell you.

I'm going with either epilepsy, diabetes (which is rare in young puppies), or anxiety.

Anxiety attacks can be pretty bad and can cause the dogs to throw up.

I would see a vet. You're going to need to get some blood drawn.

What about a blockage? Has he had any bones or play toys that he may have swallowed? The wretching and gagging could be a sign that something is lodged in his throat.

Back from the vets and turns out she has a bladder infection. The vet figures the shaking is from the pain, and I am to restrict her water intake somewhat. She is also on special canned food now to try to get her to eat. I wrote the breeder to see if I can get any answers from her end. We also got blood work done and should have results tomorrow. The vet is concerned about her bladder being enlarged, and kidneys, and the fact that she seemed lethargic while we were there. (she pract. Slept on the table the whole time!) So, here's hoping for good news tomorrow about her blood work!

Edited to delete unnecessary questions. :)

I am glad you got her to vet. Hopefully everything will turn out fine once the infection is cleared up.

Good luck and pats for the poor little girl. :)

When you answer, click on the "go advanced" button. That will give you an expanded toolbar at the top. Click on the paperclip icon to add an attachment. To find the pic click "browse" and upload the pic. Click on the paperclip icon again and your pic should drop down. Then we can see her. Here's an entire thread for pics:

She is beautiful. So are her packmates. :)

She looks like she is going to drive the older dogs crazy when she is finally feeling good. :)
