    Marrying a divorced woman
Friends, this verse is beyond my comprehension. So help me please.

Luke 16:18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

Though the words are very simple and easy to understand. If a woman is put away from her husband, then marrying such woman is committing adultery. I believe the reason for this divorce is only extra-marital relation.

But what I do not get is that if a woman divorces her husband after tolerating him for years, talking to him and doing all the best she could do in her capacity to pull him away from the beds of different women, is marrying that woman committing adultery? Should she not seek any other life-partner?

I know this is very tough question. I would welcome answers from the people who are truly in Lord God. I am not interested in any worldly opinion, suggestion or principle.

Truind, it is an absolute no brainer for me. Adultery has nothing to do with a woman leaving her husband who has been sleeping around, beating up on her and spending their hard earned money on booze. That verse is beyond comprehension to me and comes from another time and has no bearing on an adultery situation.

    Truind,

Jesus himself said anyone who divorces except for marital unfaithfulness commits adultry. NOW,, if a woman's husband has cheated on her... she can divorce and remarry without committing adultry.

Paul also talks regarding marriage... he says that if an unbelieving spouse walks OUT of the marriage you are free to marry again.. but only to a believer.

It is a gray area but from what I can gather from the word... the woman you described may surely marry again without fear of sinning. Her husband cheated.

If it helps at all Tuind,

Jesus was speaking directly to the Jews UNDER the law... he wasn't talking to the Church. We live under his Grace. It is a difficult topic but I just believe abuse is covered under his wonderful Grace. My Jesus is full of love and compassion, mercy and forgivness.

Jesus said to the crowd, he who is without sin, throw the first stone,

He then told the women, that her sins were forgiven.

So in all things there are forgiveness.
