    Theft over 5000 in canada
Hi. So almost 4 years ago I was at a bad time in my life. I was hanging out with the wrong group of people, people who I thought were my "friends". In result I ended up being charged with theft over 5000. I am in Winnipeg Manitoba. I stole cheques from my workplace. This was the worst choice in my life, I am ashamed and I regret it everday. 2 years after the incident I was pregnant. Immediately I stopped talking to my "friends", and got back to my old life before I met them. I was on maternitiy leave for a year and now I have a beautiful 19 month old daughter.

I had a guilty plea yesterday. My lawyer had told me about a program called restorative resolutions, and my sentence is put off about 6-8 weeks so I can do this program and once I am done a report is sent for review. From there my sentence will be decided. My lawyer said that this is my best bet to not go to jail. If restorative resolutions is decided as my sentence I will do community service and of course pay the money back.

I know ultimately it is up to the judge, and I am so scared and worried that I will have to do jail time. I can't be away from my daughter. It breaks my heart thinking about it as I type here. IF I do go to jail, is it possible I can do house arrest? From your guys' opinion, what do you think my sentence will be? I am thinking about paying the whole amount back in full, it is somewhere around 9,000.

I am ashamed of what I did, until I met those people I wasn't anything like this. I was going through my "rebellion" stage of my life.

    Thank you.

Again it is always up to the judge, if they have a program in place, and they accept you, it should be as the lawyer said.

But>>>> be sure to have made plans on where your child will live just in case.

In May 2006, I had a merging of accounts at my bank. This deposited about $27,000 into my checking account.
