Clarification on Standard Deduction for H1b
    Hello Experts,

Can someone please clarify the following?

I am on H1B. My wife has transferred from F1 to H1B. We will be using married filing jointly option. We do not have any itemized deductions.

The numbers I have for standard deduction are:
    Married Filing Jointly: $11,400
    Personal Exemption: $3650 per person = $7300.

    Total Standard Deduction = $18700.

Are these numbers correct? Can I claim personal exemptions also? Please clarify.

Yes, you can file joint return as residents.
Your wife must pay SS tax and Medicare tax on her F-1 income as she is resident.

    Thank you for your response.

So are you confirming that these numbers are correct and we can claim the standard deduction and the personal exemptions?
