This was a requirement for my friend's daughter but all the dresses she liked in her size (she's almost done growing) were either spaghetti straps or strapless. She bought a strapless dress but also bought a little short-sleeved cropped sweater with rhinestone buttons to wear with it - it was very cute without being childish, and also in style. She can also wear the sweater with jeans or skirts later.

It's also in-style again to wear t-shirts under spaghetti strap dresses. At least from a lot of what I've seen. A cute baby-doll top under a cute dress would work.
