Student: CPT and OPT under 1099 - taxes
    Hi there,

I'm an international student. Worked from April 4th 2009 to October 13th 2009 under CPT making 1600$ /month.
Since I worked under a 1099 (independant contractor) federal and state taxes haven't been withheld directly from my paycheck.
Since November 1st 2009 I (date of start of my OPT) I made 2100$/month.

I'm trying to figure out how much money I should expect to pay for the fiscal year 2009. Also wondering how to file my taxes... This is all new to me, and would appreciate some help here. :)

If you did not complete 5 years on F-1, file nonresident tax return and Form 8843.
1099-misc (nonemployee compensation) income: You will report your income and business related expenses on schedule C or C-EZ (Form 1040). Then you put net income (or loss) on line 13 of Form 1040NR. In your case this income is not subject to SE tax (SS tax and Medicare tax) at 15.3%.
