    Cholesteatoma
My son got mastioditis last year which resultedin surgery to remove the mastoid bone, when they operated they seen he had a disease called cholesteatoma, they operated this week to remove the disease but need to operate again in 6-12 months to see if it has spread again, if so they will need to operate every year for the rest of his life to remove this disease, I haven't got a clue what it is, and how he has got it, can someone please explain to me??

This could affect his life all together and I really need to understand what it is...

How old is your son? Has he ever had ear infections?
