    Remote Controlled Ceiling Fan
We recently bought a new house. In the master bedroom is a remote controlled ceiling fan. This fan, as far as I am able to determine, works solely by the remote control. There is nothing hooked up to the wall switches and I can see no on/off switch. The problem now is that the remote is broken and the ceiling lights come on by themselves and the fan will go on by itself. When this happened prior to the remote breaking, I would shut them off with the remote. Now, with no remote, I do not know 1)how to shut them off and 2) what to do to rectify this problem with the remote. The ceiling fan is a Hampton Bay. Thanks.

You will need a new remote in order to operate the fan, and there is some other RF device interfering causing it to turn on and off and random. When you replace the remote you will also want to change the frequency of the fan, and make sure the remote matches it.
