Appreciate the protection of your parents. But if THEY get out of hand, merely say: I know you are trying to be good parents, but (insert feelings here). They may consider it, may not. They are the parents. You are the child

Well you are posting here, and unles you are chained to the wall and never leave the house you meet people everyday.

And since you sound like a teen or maybe even a pre teen, I would say you go to school and know 100's of people who can be friends

It strikes me that your parents don't like the idea that you are trying to make your friends on the internet rather than in real life like at school. They have a valid point because many people will pose as someone they are not online and a lot of teenagers have been really badly impacted by it with everything from rapes and kidnappings to murder. They will not stop worrying.

It sounds like you might want to stop trying to get them to stop worrying and instead talk to them in a calm way about the fact that you'd like to have more friends, and how you can go about that in person with other people. Like if you aren't comfortable with your appearance maybe they can help you to gain some confidence by changing your hair or getting some new clothing or something. Or if you aren't feeling that you fit in at school, maybe there are other things you could join where you'd meet more people who share your interests. I've even known people who have changed schools. Try to understand your parent's reasons for worrying, and help them understand your need to make friends and maybe together you can find a safer way to meet friends in person instead of online.

It's one thing to go on a site like this for some advice, but to actually meet people you want to know offline can be kind of dangerous.
