    American oppurtunity tax credit
    I just filed my taxes and my accountant said my wife didn't quailfy for the american oppurtunity tax credit. My wife has her green card... is this correct?

    It looks like form 8879? H&R block did them for us. We filed married filing jointly.

    What level of education did your wife attend in 2009? If it was graduate work (master's or doctorate), then she does NOT qualify for the American Opportunity Tax Credit.
