My 2-year-old daughter has just started supervised visits with her father, who she has never met until now. Due to his violent behavior and the need for a protection order he is not allowed to be alone with her and never has been. She is screaming and crying to the point of vomiting because she is so upset with these visits. What can I do to help her and what legal rights does she have since these visits are court ordered?

Who supervises the visits? Maybe if someone she is already close to and comfortable with was there with her it would calm her down? Is it seeing her father that upsets her? Or is she upset when you leave her? And how many visits has she had with him? Some kids react that way when their mothers leave. My cousin cried so much the first time that my aunt left him at daycare they asked her not to bring him back. They said he cried and screamed the whole time. Eventually though he had to get over it when he had to start school. If it continues to happen, you can try going back to court and having the order modified. The court is supposed to look at what is in the best interest of the child. The hope was probably that it was in her best interest to know both parents.

Where are the visits taking place? And since it is court ordered its best to follow them or you could end up in jail.

Let me also suggest that at 2 years old your child is experiencing separation anxiety. Should you leave her with virtually anyone she doesn't know, she will do the same thing. It takes time for a child to build familiarity and trust. Give her time.

Yes, perhaps starting to let the child stay with a sitter some and get used to being with another person.

In Atlanta we have supervised centers for them to come and visit. Of course at home one has to stop talking bad against the father

And again where and how are the meetings taking place.

It often helps if someone besides of the mother takes the child to visits
