Hello,

I am remodeling an existing basement bath on a slab. I want to move the toilet about 6 ft. There is an existing 3" drain for the sink behind a wall about 1 1/4 ft from where I would like the toilet. Can I tap into that drain? Or, do I have to extend the existing toilet line?

Also,I would like to convert the bath (again, on slab) into a shower. Ideally, I would like to move the current tub drain about 1.5 ft away to center on the new shower. Any issues to think about here?

You might consider a back outlet toilet so you could tie onto the 3'' drain in the wall, and a retrofit showerbase so you can use the same location for the drain.

If you are doing this by code the tubmost likely has a 1 1/2" drain line and showers require a 2" drain.

Please explain what you mean by. "Tappig in".
Do you mean cutting into the slab and using the existing 3" line or converting the stack to accommodate a rear flush toilet?

Ideally, you would find a shower base that would inter change directly with the indergtound already in place,(see image).
