    Condom allergy
I notice that when I use condoms with my partner I swell up and burn and it takes a few days for it to go away, like today I am having burning and some swelling and we used a condom last night, and it usually tends to cause dryness while intercourse, is there anything I can do to relieve this discomfort? Do I need to seek medical attention for this ?

It's possible that you have an allergy to Latex. Try a non-Latex condom: Non Latex Condoms - Non Latex Condoms Available for Sale in the US

I believe I am allergic. It's not the first time it has happened after using a condom. Ouch. I hope a non latex will help. I haven't tried the non latex.

If you are allergic to latex, then that becomes a medical allergy and having bloodwork done for instance would require the hospital worker to use non-latex gloves such as nitrile. Nitrile is more expensive.

Right, but I don't think I've ever had a problem while taking blood work. Well I think I've experienced some redness on the area but that's it no itching or anything. I actually have to get some done this week I'll see if I have a reaction to it, but latex condoms I defitnetly think I do react to those.

You need to let the medical personnel know that you suspect a latex allergy so that no forms of latex will be used.

I've had many vaginal examinations though and never really had a reaction.

Is it possible that your dr just doesn't use latex gloves at all to avoid the risk? That could explain why you haven't had reactions from it before. Is this something that's only recently began happening to you? Either way, best to talk to your dr about it.

A lot of people with latex allergies are more sensitive the longer the contact remains. I'm sure there's a test you can have done to see if it is a latex allergy. That'll prevent possible problems later on if you end up needing emergency medical attention, since it'll be in your medical records.

It's also possible you're allergic to the spermicides and/or lubricants on the condoms. If that's the case, you'll need to find ones that either use a different type, or none at all.

Justcurious I am not sure possibly, maybe I can call and ask if they usually use latex gloves for examination, and heath I've been searching and I believe there is two types of condoms that have non latex like the durex, so maybe I need to see, as for now I think ice might be a relief to this discomfort I hope.
