    Roommate not paying me rent, can I kick her out
    My friend moved into my house on a verbal payment arrangement. She has not paid me for 2 months now. Can I kick her out? I changed the locks to my house this morning so that she couldn't come in the house while I am gone to take anything of mine. Legally what can I do to get my money? Oh and I had her sign a lease 3 weeks ago just in case I didn't get paid for FEB or MArch

    Changing the locks without a court order is illegal. She can sue you for illegal eviction. She is a tenant and you have to follow the tenancy laws in your state for removing her. That means giving her a written notice to pay or vacate and filing a lawsuit for eviction if she fails to do either.
