Furnace fan motor going bad? What are the symptoms?
Fan motor hums with call for heat but will not spin. WHEN DIRECT JUMP at C and G FAN SPINS FREELY ONLY AFTER A LITTLE ASSISTANCE, then spins to beat the band. No noise or grinding. IS THIS INDICATIVE OF A START CAPACITOR GONE BAD/ or is the fan motor start winding going out?

It is a run capacitor not start capacitor. Try replacing with like same.

You can test the capacitor with an ohm meter, but what you describe sounds like a capacitor is the problem. Check the voltage to the motor. How old is the motor? Do you have access to an ammeter? Troubleshooting starts at the power source and ends at the load.
