We are redoing our kitchen which one of the walls that backs the kitchen to the upstairs bath is where the plumbing stack is. I was told we should go ahead a put the second stack for the basement bath in and connect it 1 1/2 feet above the kitchen sink that way we don't have to tear out the wall later when we decide to do the basement bath. Any ideas on how to do this, what we will need and the easiest way are appreciated!

I think you are talking about connecting vent not stock. How large is this "stock" pipe in diameter ?

Let's get together on terms.
A "stack vent " is a stack that receives drainage from fixtures.
A "vent stack" is the upper part of a stack vent that's dry and goes out the roof. A "revent' is where you connect one vent into another dry vent before it exits the roof so you combine the two vents.

You're referring to a revent. This is done by cutting in a Inerted (upside down)sanitary tee ,(see image) in the kitchen vent stack at least 6" above the flood rim of the kitchen sink. This conforms to code any place I've ever worked. Good luck, Tom

Then cut in a 4 X 2" inverted Sanitary Tee in the stack and revent back to that. Good luck, Tom
