    Litter Box Training a Chihuahua
    Hi there,

So I took the suggestions of some folks here. I'm going to try litter box training my girl. She's almost 1 1/2 years old. I've tried everything else, and it all has seemed to work for maybe a month or two, and then back to the carpet she goes. So, I'm hoping this will work. I got one of the boxes with the lid, so hopefully she knows that she can have her privacy. I also got Tidy Cats Scoop. And treats to reward her behavior. So, my question isn't really a question at all. Am I missing something? Is there any other advice on this matter that anyone could offer me? Did I get the right litter? Or is there something better?

The big thing is... make sure it stays clean. Sometimes when it's dirty or smells exceptionally bad she will snub her nose at it and use the carpet.

Here's a pretty indepth article on litter box training. How To Litter Box Train Your Dog

I always thought it had to be a grass that was sold for these boxes but from this article looks like pretty much any type of littler can be used. Good luck I hope this works out for you and your little cutie.

You can't use regular litter, they will want to eat it and its pretty hard on the stomach, it can even kill them. Use shredded newspaper instead.

This was posted two years ago. And not commented on in a year. It's been solved, thank you.
