Help with J1 taxes for a spanish teacher coming from germany
    Hi,

I am a teacher from spain, who lived in germany before coming to work here last August.
I am trying to get some help regarding which tax treaty I am under, the spanish or german, and how can I file my tax exemption.

I started working here in August and will stop in July.

    Many thanks

Were you a resident of Germany before coming to the United States, i.e. were you paying German taxes?

If so, then the German Tax Treaty applies.

If not, the Spanish Tax Treaty applies because (presumably), Spain issued your passport.
