    Youth offences theft over 5000
    My 17 year old son was charged on Thursday for stealing a atv and wrecked it last summer theft over 5000 I got him out on bail Friday what could be the sentence if found guilty

    Several thousand dollar fine, and up to several years in prison. Will this happen ? Most likely a lot less but a lot depends on prior crimes, and so many other factors.

    Most important right now

    1. don't make any statements to police
    2. don't admit any guilt and do not confess right now
    3. Hire a good attorney

    You are in Canada? Agree with FrChuck - and he doesn't qualify for the diversion program due to the dollar amount.
